a short description of  the house by the realtor:

the zinc house. the design of the house was created in responds to both characteristics of the site, and specific requirements of the clients. the main floor, the grand room, includes living and dining areas and is situated from the front to the back of the house, thereby filling the space with daylight. the west wall fireplace is illuminated by a hidden skylight, bringing evening sunlight into the grand room. connected to the grand room, but separated for privacy by a partial change in level, is the main entry with summer and winter closets, as well as the parents’ office overlooking the south facing garden. yet another connection to the outdoors and the grand room is the three storey wood paneled vertical space containing the staircase which is illuminated from above from the east window wall, located at the level of the relaxing rooftop patio and year-round hot tub. through these intriguing ways to capture daylight from all sides of the house, the atmosphere changes from early morning sunlight from the east, to the setting sun from the west. the grand room opens out on to the main garden and outdoor dining terrace with built in year-round barbecue. the garden is elevated above the adjacent lane ensuring total privacy for the garden. the lower garden provides a more intimate sitting area next to the vegetable garden, as well as access to the garage. also accessed from the lower garden are the more inward looking rooms including the multipurpose recreation room, the wood paneled media room, and he temperature controlled wine cellar. the master bedroom suite looks out onto a wide southern panorama through one single fourty foot long window the full width of the house. the exterior of the house is primarily clad with zinc, a traditional material used in european cathedrals for appearance, longevity, and minimal maintenance. the design of the house is made around the opportunities of modern urban living, including large social events, as well as the more relaxed tranquility for daily life.
