short description of the house by realtor, brett jones :

1851 crescent road sits at the apex of gonzales bay, victoria’s finest urban waterfront. an area entwined in the history of victoria, the bay was once home to rum-runners, bath houses, tea rooms and dance halls. today this balmy, sandy bay remains full of life, beauty and intrigue. sheltered from ocean breezes, it is the perfect spot for kayaking and swimming.
from the road you are presented with a mere glimpse of the property. to fully appreciate the location you need only step through the custom stainless gates. once inside you’ll discover a stunning view across the juan defuca strait to the olympic peninsula of washington state that very few have the opportunity to experience.
from top to bottom this home is designed to make the most of its location. start your day with your favourite cuppa and front-row seats to the daytime maritime activities of passing cruise ships, sailboats and local craft. end your day in the infinity pool, or sip a glass of wine by the patio fireplace, while you watch the glowing sunset give way to the twinkling lights of port angeles on the far shore. then make your way up to roof-top deck for a little star gazing.
and while the vistas are magnificent, the inside won’t disappoint either. the home offers a generous 4,810 square feet plus an additional 2,341 square feet of outdoor living. designed by preeminent victoria architects dehoog and keirulf, this home is a breathtaking example of west coast contemporary style. best practices in architectural design are evident throughout. solid construction features include commercial-grade steel with sacked and parged concrete and locally sourced natural materials, large overhangs shade the floor-to-ceiling windows to maintain a comfortable living environment.
fourteen-foot sliding doors glide elegantly into pre-formed niches in the concrete structure at the touch of a finger. floors are a mix of hardwood and terrazzo concrete with in-floor radiant heat.
1851 crescent road was thoughtfully designed to take advantage of this idyllic location. the outdoor spaces have been considered as carefully as the interior. the gas fireplace on the main deck allows you to extend your enjoyment of this glorious space year-round.

  1. Spectacular house well thought out in every way but sorry a no go. The basement bedrooms have no egress windows, are not legal or rentable and it would not be an easy fix. The price is over 2 million over tax assessed value… If the price would reflect, I’d definitely put it on the list because it is amazing. 6.3 million needs to be reconsidered.
